Each week during construction we will share an update on our Building Hope adventure and an inspirational word from the Bible!

Note from pastor Paul Sorensen

HI, DEAREST FRIENDS!

Dear Friends,

There are moments in our lives when we sense that God is up to something great. This is one of those moments!

Over the past two years, we have journeyed together through our Building Hope Adventure. You have prayed fervently and sacrificed significantly, so that we can build a safe place for children, youth, and all of us to experience Jesus and welcome families in our community into the great adventure of faith!

We thank our Lord for His faithful guidance and provision to construct a new place that will bless us and our community for years to come! And we celebrate this next step in the fulfillment of God’s great mission through our Hope family!

Sincerely grateful,

Pastor Paul and Carol

Building Hope FAQs

  • o   Indoor Classroom Spaces

Our growing children’s ministry meets in the bedroom of Hope House, and our junior high meet outside. We want plenty of spaces where families feel comfortable bringing their kids.

    o   Event Spaces

Hope Barn & Gardens is hosting twice the weddings we projected, as well as graduation ceremonies, memorial services, and many community events. We desperately need more spaces to host our community.

o   Kitchen, Storage & Parking Space

Our tiny kitchen, overflow gravel parking, and rented storage shed are put to vigorous use hosting hundreds of people each week for worship and events. We’re outgrowing our space.

  • General Conditions: $87,864

    Parking, Underground, Infrastructure: $413,608

    Building: $1,177,194

    Contingency Fund: $83,933

    TOTAL: $1,762,599

  • The master plan was created with long-term growth in mind.  While our immediate needs are to build a children’s space, additional phases have the potential to include things like making space for more parking, creating indoor and outdoor kitchen areas, building an amphitheater, and creating a sports court, that could become a covered wedding area, and ultimately be turned into worship space as the needs arise.

  • At this point, we have enough worship space to accommodate our Hope family.  However, our current lack of other spaces is restricting our worship attendance.  When families come and have no place for their kids to go, they are less likely to come back.  That’s why our first priority is to build more space for our kids.

  • Many reasons make now the right time to launch the Building Hope campaign.  These include:

o   The expanded growth and development of the area around us.

o   The number of families and children coming to our services.

o   The explosion of other events on campus, such as weddings, graduations, and community events.

o   We believe that our Hope community is strong enough financially to move into the next phase.

o   The two-year master planning process lays out a vision for where we should go over the next several years.  Buying the adjacent property and building a children’s space is the step we need to take now to get us moving toward where we want to be down the road.

  • When we first landed on our Hope campus, we knew that our buildings and parking wouldn’t be large enough to support our growth, but it was a start.  We are now at a place where our current space is not sufficient for the mission God has given us. These next steps give us the ability to bring more people together to be equipped to take God’s love to their community, work, home, and neighborhood. They also help us provide a welcoming space for those coming on our campus to hear the word of God, find hope, and celebrate life’s events.

  • On our Building Hope Commitment Card, you can give a one-time gift, or commit to giving weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually.  Your donation can be made by check, cash, direct deposit, credit card, through our website, or by text to give.  If you have a non-cash asset you would like to donate or would like to talk with someone about including Hope Church in your estate planning, please contact us at 602-214-8733 or info@hopechurch.me.

  • In order to maintain where we currently are as a church, and all we are doing, the gifts that are being given now need to remain at the same level. We are requesting that the gifts for the Building Hope campaign are above and beyond everyone’s regular giving.

  • The goal is to finish this phase without borrowing any more money.  At the end of the campaign, we will evaluate to see what still needs to happen.

  • Our giving is a reminder of the blessings God gives us and gave to us through Jesus Christ.  It is an act of obedience to Him, and also an act of faith in His care for us in the future.  Giving also has a practical role to play; it is a means by which God works through His people to reach their community.

God doesn’t call for equal gifts from us, He calls for equal sacrifice.  The early Christians set a great example in this. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints--and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us.” II Corinthians 8:3-4

These followers of Jesus gave themselves first to the Lord. And then they gave freely as God guided them. May you invite our Loving Lord to guide and provide!
